A donut tree is a fun party recipe that we got from Sandra Lee at Food Network. It's especially fun at parties where there will be lots of children!
Now, I will allow my daughters to demonstrate:
After spreading the cone with white frosting, position a donut onto the cone. Insert a toothpick into the center of the donut, and secure with a gumdrop.
Start at the bottom and work your way up.
Try to fill is as much of the empty space as possible.
Little brothers with no clothes on also like to help:
The finished product!
It was also done on the TV show with blue gumdrops, for a nice wintry look.
Since we made this the first time, I thought it might be better to make your own cone with posterboard and tape. The styrofoam can "shed" a little if you don't use a very thick layer of icing. Or you could use the styrofoam and cover it with posterboard.
These photos were included in the homemade cookbooks that I made for my girls. Be sure to capture lots of pictures of your kids in the kitchen!
