Movie Night (or Morning) (or Afternoon)

What do you do when you make BIG PLANS to go see a movie at the theater with your family, and the plans get cancelled for you? How about when it's the first time some of your kids will have ever been to a theater?

You make lemonade.

You know, when life hands you lemons . . .

After a little frustrated pouting on everyone's part, Nicholas (5) suggests we have a movie theater in our house. Great idea!

So, I went and rented a movie we'd never seen, and picked up some movie essentials at Dollar Tree. When I got back, Chloe had a "concession stand" all set up, as well as a "ticket counter."

I popped some corn, Claudia put the DVD in, and everyone "purchased" their snacks.

It was a fun way to take a disappointment and turn it around. We talked about having a great attitude when circumstances are out of our hands. Good lesson and great family fun (without Daddy, of course; but he was proud of us for making the best of it.)

By the way, did you know you can make your own microwave popcorn? My electric air popper recently bit the dust, so now I make it myself. Here's how:

1/4 cup popcorn kernels

paper lunch bag

dash salt

1 tsp. oil

Mix up the ingredients in the lunch bag, fold the top of the bag over once or twice, and microwave for approximately 2 minutes. (Your microwave time may vary from mine.)

I did about 3 bags like this for 5 people. I also melted butter to pour over the top. MMMMMMM!

Happy Movie Watching!
