Nicholas turned 4 last week. On Thanksgiving Day. So we had a busy holiday!
On Thanksgiving Day, we had birthday cake for breakfast after Nicholas opened his gifts.
Nicholas invented cake-on-a-finger:
In case you're wondering about the Christmas decorations on Thanksgiving Day during the Birthday Party, let me explain: My parents work at a Children's Home where they are relief houseparents to many girls. All but one of the girls were gone for the holiday, so we had our family Thanksgiving at the house where they were on duty. The full-time houseparents decorated a little early for Christmas. It was slightly confusing to the small children, but we made good use of the decorations by taking our family Christmas-card photos:
At the end of the day, we asked Nicholas if he had a fun birthday. His response:
"I don't think I'm any bigger!"
We failed to explain that the growing doesn't happen all in one day. But I promise you, he HAS grown. Happy Birthday Nicholas!
