Rebellion

34 When it comes to my children, or my God, I don't advocate rebellion.

But, "To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1.

"A time to break down, and a time to build up." Ecclesiastes 3:3.

"A time to keep silence, and a time to speak." Ecclesiastes 3:7.

"A time of war, and a time of peace." Ecclesiastes 3:8.

It is time for rebellion in America. If that surprises you, read up on your history. Rebellion is what stops the bad men of the world from continuing down their evil paths. Rebellion is an American tradition.

It was rebellion that urged our very first forefathers to put their families and all their worldly possessions on a small boat and sail across the Atlantic to a land they had never seen, just so they could worship God, plant crops, own land and raise their children in freedom.

It was rebellion that prompted these words: "When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

And these words: "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." -From the Declaration of Independence

It was rebellion that gave Samuel Adams and his fellow patriots the courage to dump 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor in 1773 instead of paying exorbitant taxes.


It was rebellion that kept the militia fighting the Redcoats faithfully through many long, cold, and weary battles for independence.

It was rebellion that strengthened the Texans at the Alamo to resist Santa Ana until every last man was killed.

It was rebellion that inspired both sides of the Civil War to fight for their strongly held beliefs.

It was rebellion that gave American women the right to vote.

It was rebellion that pushed the Civil Rights movement forward as black Americans refused to go to segregated schools, sit at the back of the bus, and drink from separate water fountains.

Personally, it was rebellion that took my family to Austin, Texas in 1986 to the Austin TEA Party in protest of tighter homeschool regulations.

These are just a few highlights from America's rich history.

As you can see, rebellion has its place. It's the only way to bring corruption to a screeching halt. It must be done by ordinary citizens. You are a citizen. Are you tired of watching your government tax and spend as if you had no voice?

Don't close your eyes. Pick up your pen, grab your musket, dump the tea, move to the front of the bus, turn off your TV, pick up your sign and MARCH! Be a rebel!
